Now people are back at work, and many are looking for cultural fun during the otherwise predictable workweek. September in Bergen means it’s time for both the Bergen Food Festival and the Bergen Cider Festival once again. Festplassen, Byparken, and several restaurants across town will be filled with flavors and lively gatherings. Halvøyen is a two-day festival dedicated to hip hop and R&B. It first took place in 2021 and has quickly become a highlight for music lovers. This year the lineup includes eight different artists who bring great energy. Among the names are Angelo Reira, JME and 2J.

If you are looking for a festival with great beats, lively crowds and a welcoming vibe, Halvøyen is worth the trip.

Is classical music your cup of tea? Then you’ll be glad to know that the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 this fall in the beautiful Grieghallen.


This season’s composer in residence, Ørjan Matre, has written a short piece titled Freude. It is inspired by the final movement of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and features both choir and soloists. The orchestra uses the same instrumentation as in Beethoven’s original work.


It promises to be a memorable evening in Grieghallen. A must for all Beethoven fans.

Gabriela Garrubo is a Norwegian-Brazilian jazz vocalist based in Bergen. She received the Vossajazz Prize in 2024. Her debut album Rodando came out in 2023. It features her crystal-clear voice in both English and Portuguese, supported by a talented band. For this concert, she is joined by eight-string guitarist Per Olav Kobberstad and percussionist Xander Crook. The trio presents the music in a fresh new format and brings several new compositions. Earlier this year, she sold out a show at Landmark to an enthusiastic audience.

Arild Andersen celebrates his 80th birthday with an anniversary tour. He is joined by saxophonist Marius Neset, pianist Helge Lien, and drummer Håkon Mjåset Johansen. The group first played together at festivals in 2018. Since then, they have toured widely across Europe. Neset is known for his bold sound and strong compositions. Lien brings a lyrical and inventive style on piano. Johansen adds energy and precision on drums. Andersen has released over 20 albums on ECM. His career includes work with Jan Garbarek, Bill Frisell, and Pat Metheny. He remains a key figure in Norwegian jazz.

Kakkmaddafakka is an indie pop band from Bergen. It was formed in 2004 by Axel Vindenes, Stian Sævig, and former member Jonas Nielsen. Today the band has five members. They have played a lot of concerts in Norway, and since 2009 they have also toured a lot internationally. In the beginning they experimented with different styles, but since 2011, they have mainly focused on pop music and indie-pop.

The band has released seven albums and two EPs. This year, the band is set to release their eighth studio album. They are excited to perform new songs alongside classics like Forever Alone and Naked Blue when they take the stage at Røkeriet on USF Verftet. Get ready for a fun concert in their hometown this September!

The Impossible Green is a band from Trondheim, Norway. Their music blends rock, indie, americana, and power pop. Strong songwriting and high-energy performances are central to their style. The band released its debut album, Watching The Blue, in 2022. Since then, they have released two more albums, with the latest coming out this April.


After a busy summer of touring and playing festivals, the band is now ready to perform at Statsraaden in just a few weeks. This will be a great night of music in a special venue.

This autumn, Aron Willems, also known as Dr.AW, presents God bedring at Grieghallen. The exhibition looks at health, illness, and the world around us. It combines seriousness with humor. Paintings, drawings, stencils, spray paint, and street art come together in unexpected ways. The works mix vulnerability with sharp commentary. There is both tension and play in the pieces. God bedring invites visitors to take a closer look. It asks questions. It offers moments of pause in a time when care is needed more than ever.

Fløirestauranten offers a unique outing with panoramic city views and live outdoor jazz. The spacious terrace, wrapping around the historic building, spans over 600 square meters. Bergen Classic 2025 brings together boxing and MMA for one of the biggest events in Bergen’s combat sport scene this fall. The event features traditional boxing matches in the ring and MMA fights inside the cage, all with top-notch DJs, lighting, and sound. Talented amateurs and rising stars from England, Bergen, and across Norway will compete on the main stage. The event was a great success last year and we believe this year will be no different!

Fløyen is always a great choice when visiting Bergen. It offers some of the best views of the city, and you can either hike to the top or take the funicular.


This year, the restaurant at Fløyen is celebrating its 100th anniversary, so there will be plenty of extra activities happening on the 21st this month. The restaurant originally opened on July 13, 1925, and the theme of the celebration is inspired by that year.


Staff from the city museum will be dressed in 1920s-style clothing, and visitors can learn about the history of Bergen and what life was like in 1925. There will be traditional outdoor baking activities for children, along with taste tests, musical performances, and historical exhibitions from that era.
